The reasons two people come to CORAN together vary widely. Honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays, business partners passing through, parent and adult child, sisters, close friends. 'Couples massage' makes most people think of romantic partners or married couples, but in practice anyone can come together. It's just lying side by side, receiving treatments.
CORAN has several rooms designed for two. A larger room with two beds set side by side. Fully private, not visible from outside. Most clients aren't really talking during the treatment itself. Once the massage starts, both naturally relax and drift into their own quiet. That's fine. A few words on the way in, a few on the way out — that's most of it.
A common question when couples book: 'Do we have to choose the same treatment?' No. One can take aromatherapy while the other takes Ayurveda. If the times don't match, we adjust the start so you finish close together. Sometimes one person finishes earlier and waits in the lobby — that's also normal.
For honeymoons and anniversaries, we have our own small ways of paying attention. Welcome drink before the treatment is chilled herbal tea with a cool oshibori towel; after the session, warm herbal tea. We avoid showy gestures, choosing instead to give the space and quiet for guests to be together. We sometimes hear, 'This was the first time the two of us actually slowed down here.'
Practical guides for booking as a pair. 1) Book early. Couple rooms are limited, and weekends fill quickly. 2) Tell us each person's preferences in advance. 'I like firm pressure; my partner likes lighter' — let us know and each therapist can adjust. 3) Time meals around the treatment. Eating right after a session, the body is dazed — about an hour in between is better. 4) Luggage storage is free, so you can come straight from sightseeing.
There are also times when coming as a pair isn't ideal. Couples mid-argument: there's no real conversation during the session, so the tension just sits longer. One partner not really into the spa idea: forcing it doesn't make either of you enjoy it. And if either person isn't well — first trimester of pregnancy, fever, acute injury — we can't safely do the treatment. The wish to enjoy something together is understandable, but pushing through isn't worth it.
Courses we see couples choose often. The 90-minute Ayurveda package (from 2,000 THB). 120-minute full-body aromatherapy. 150-minute Ayurveda (from 2,600 THB). Some choose the 4-hour full course for anniversaries. Couples promotion pricing is sometimes available through the booking platform Gowabi. We're on the 3rd floor of Night Hotel Bangkok, Sukhumvit Soi 15, five minutes from BTS Asok. Same-day booking with four hours' notice via website, LINE (@coranboutiquespa), WhatsApp, or phone (+66-62-587-5366; Japanese line +66-82-658-1088).
Nineteen years watching this, what strikes me is that the time of lying side by side and receiving treatment together has something in it that's hard to put into words. There's no animated conversation, no special staging, just lying next to each other and sharing the same hours. That ends up showing up, a little, in the hours back at home. Hoping we offer some of that, we welcome our couples every day.
